Linda Edna's parents are businessman Wayne David Cardellini and Lorraine (Hernan). She was born at Redwood City in California. After her successful performance in the role of Lady Rose MacClare on the period drama Downton Abbey from 2012-2015 Her first big break was in the fantasy movie Cinderella in 2015. James went on to portray Countess Natasha Rostova in the television version of War & Peace (2016) and also appeared in a variety of films, including the action-packed film Baby Driver (2017), the period dramas Darkest Hour (2017), The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society (2018) and The Dig (2021), as well as the musicals Mamma Mia! We Go Again 2018 and Yesterday (2019). In 2022, her character as Pamela Anderson was recognized with a Golden Globe nomination and a Primetime Emmy Award.
