
Lizzo joined a prog-rock group that she joined, singing and occasionally played the flute. The family she was born into had moved to Denver which meant she was on her own as she tried to establish her career in Houston. Lizzo lived on her own in her car, often sleeping on the floor of her studio recording studio, she also washed her hair at the gym. Lizzo lost her father at 20 years old. The two were close and it was a very devastating loss. After the passing of her father she quit the prog band. Following a brief stop in Denver, Lizzo moved to Minneapolis in 2011 on the advice of a friend. In the next few months, she was part of the Minneapolis music scene. She was a part of the girl groups Chalice, GRRRL PRTY. The album she released her debut album, Lizzobangers was released in 2013 on an independent label.
